If you haven’t heard, I have moved to a new home. Lately while still unboxing, much reminiscing has been shared regarding my childhood memories. My mother has pasted along some favorite family items. One of those items triggered a memory of a Christmas present from my father. Luckily for me, it resurfaced in the move and has found its place in my new home.
This present was a wooden tool box created for me by my father as Christmas present when I was about 10 yrs old. It was forgotten and lost for many years . But here it is. It’s back in my life. Oh joy! It was Christmas for me all over again!
I love it’s new repurposed use on my dining room table. It’s perfect! I’m so glad it was found and has a home with me again. It will be quite fun to change out the decor that it holds. Thanks again, Dad. xoxo
This ginormous bowl has always been to referred to by my family as ” The bread bowl”. My mother used it when she would make homemade bread, very uneventful for a kid. Even though it was given that name, it served our family in many other ways as well. My favorite being, a punch bowl. Punch was always mixed in this bowl. Oh how I loved to drink punch while very carefully ladling it into pitchers for serving. Punch was special. It was only served for special, joyous times. Great memory.
Now it sits upon my counter filled with other memories from my mother’s kitchen. She no longer is able to make bread or use the items within the bowl but it sure brings a smile and fond memoriesto us both.
Do you have items that have triggered childhood fond memories? See if you too can find a way to incorporated them into your daily life. It will bring a smile anytime you take a look.

August 16, 2017 at 5:09 pmHow special are these to your home, Mary. I love how you kept and found them and is now re-purposing them in your own homemaking. The bread bowl is awesome (great styling) and that tool box from your day – it looks just like the ones now. I even see these at Target in Spring or back to school isle for using as organizers. It sure will be nice to change it up with the seasons. Congrats on your new move too:)

August 16, 2017 at 12:31 pmI’m so glad you found the tool box your dad made for you when you were a little girl! The older I get, the more precious the items are that my mom and dad made me/gave me. I love that you found a prominent place to display the tool box. And that bowl is so pretty and I love the way you styled it.
