Here in Wisconsin, summers are cherished. If you don’t embrace every minute of it, in a flash it is gone. That means, get your butt outside, soak in the the warmth and sunshine and enjoy. I took my own advice this season and did a deck refresh.
Take a look back a couple years when I first purchased my new home. I concentrated my efforts on the interior by decorating with thrifty finds and neglected the exterior. This spring I decided to tackle the much forgotten deck
First piece of business, choose a stain color. For lack of a creative effort and the desire just to get it done, I decided to go with the same color as my house and trim. Off to the paint store to get stain and supplies I have the motivation. It’s time to act. Unfortunately, the weather Not so much. It was quite rainy for a number of days and then after that I had to power wash it and let it dry out. By then, it became a chore that needed to be done. My enthusiasm disappeared. The deck refresh could be in jeopardy! In steps my son to save the day.
With him rolling stain on the deck and I tackling the spindles and railing, the work was completed much quicker. What’s that’s saying? “Many hands make light work”. Let it dry and the fun part begins.. decorating!
A mixture of new pieces alongside some of existing outdoor seating created a cozy and inviting space to relax and entertain. My Deck Refresh is complete. Now for that Wisconsin weather!! Fingers crossed, folks.
