If you have the opportunity to obtain some old barn board or fencing, don’t pass it by. Even if you don’t have a vision for it currently, having a few pieces on hand may just spark an idea waiting to happen. I took my own advise while thrift shopping and purchased a lovely aged piece of barn board. I didn’t have a vision for it then, but it wasn’t too much later that an idea came to mind. The result… An Easy Barn board Sign.
Materials:
- Barn board
- Wood Letters: Found at local craft store
- Paint
- Glue
The board already had a lovely red stain to it and was the perfect length. No prepping required there.
I picked up some wooden letters on clearance a while back so I had them already on hand. I painted them brick red color to coordinate with the stain of the wood. The hardest part of this project was the decision of how to place the letters, horizontal or vertically on the barn board.
Undecided, I posted a vote on Thrifty to Nifty’s Facebook page. I received A or B votes and many voters included why they chose the way they did. Such a helpful crew. My decision… ?, vertical. The last step in creating this Easy Barn Board Sign was to lay out the letters and glue them into place. Done!
I’m not sure what I will do with it, but it was just too easy not to complete when the inspiration hit. Please share any of your quick projects you may have completed. It’s that time of year that we all could use something quick, especially for gift giving.
