Thrifty Fall Mantle No Cost Decorating

September 28, 2015 By thriftytonifty

Happy Fall Y’all!!

Yes, I know I’m a little over a week late on my salutation, but actually that is pretty timely for me.  I did not want to come to the realization that summer is ending.  Mentally, I am still in August, partly because of the great weather we have been blessed with. I have been enjoying surfing all the wonderful posts depicting great fall decor to the point of creating a small desire to decorate myself. Even though seasonal decorating is not my thing, ( anymore), I knew I still had all the props packed away. Given that I would not have to invest any money into this feat, I thought I would give it a shot. This lead me to create a Thrifty Fall Mantle by shopping my stash.

32 Blogs Fall Ideas

I mentioned I was enjoying viewing the many posts featuring fall decor.  One in particular, featured by   Confessions of a Serial Do-it Yourselfer shared that 32 blogs over 4 days were featuring great fall decorating ideas.  This sparked the thought of my joining in on the idea of fall decorating. I guess the draw for me was that the features where broken down into different areas of the home. To me, that approach didn’t seem so daunting.  I could do that and I had the stuff to do it too.  Off I went to shop my stash and came up with quite a few options to create a Thrifty Fall Mantle.

I consulted Pinterest and found I am really drawn to the neutral pallet…the whites, golds, grays.  However, all I have in my stash are the traditional fall colors. Going with that, I played around with arrangement, various items, and much deliberation. ( This took me way too long which is not in my character to care this much …)  In the end,  I was pleased with my Thrifty Fall Mantle.

All the items I used were decor I already owned. All I had to do was just shop my stash and create.  Oh, did I mention, these items, except for the Boxwood  wreath, are all thrifty found items either from garage sales, thrift stores, or hand-me downs, thus making it a Thrifty Fall Mantle?

How have you decorated for fall?  I would love to see your creations if you would share a link in comments.  Next fall decorating attempt?…. A table scape.  Wish me luck!

Very pretty mantle and I love that you did it without buying a bunch of stuff. I am trying to not buy things but creatively repurpose what I have. You have done that well here.

I love it!!! My “stash” is getting bigger, for sure. I’m down to only purchasing a couple small items here and there!

I forget to mention that I love the breakdown for decorating – this makes it easier. That way, you do not have to feel so stressed to decorate the entire house!

Yes, the weather here in Southern Cali is not at all like Fall…yet. So, as much as I want to get decorating and get into all the cozy awesomeness of fall, it’s still a bit early around here. Your mantle looks lovely. Hopefully Autumn will roll into SoCal soon 🙂 I’m ready!

Looks good! I’m still decorating for fall. I love inexpensive decorating, too and already have plenty of fall items I could use so other than a few fall crafts, I won’t be buying much to add to my decor.

I love no-cost decorating. I tend to reuse seasonal decor over and over and if I have to grab a can of spray paint, so be it. Your mantle is beautiful!
