It’s the last week of October and I finally am getting around to sharing my Fall Porch Decor. If you know me personally or have been following along on my blog for a while, you would know I’m not one to spend a lot of time on decorating. I like to decorate and change things around, but if it’s too involved , too putsy, or take too long… forget it. That is how I became intrigued by the post: Fall Ideas Tour which breaks down fall decorating into different task areas. A manageable means for me. The first area I chose to decorate for fall was my mantle . Having an ok experience with that, I moved on to my front porch.
I get much of my inspiration from the many creative folks that share their creations on their blogs. I came across this post: 18 Fall Decor Tips by How Does She , that highlights many wonderful and beautiful porch decor ideas and tips. Making the commitment to myself to decorate for the fall season, I thought my porch area would be a quick and easy next choice.
Looking through my stash, I came across two old exterior doors that had a very weathered and had chippy look. Even the glass window panes in these doors were slowly slipping out. It was time to pull the doors out of storage and save them. I first removed the glass window panes in each door and put those aside to use at a later date. I quickly used the sander to remove any loose chippy paint, added a wreath and propped it up against the house. Mums and a pumpkin were added and my Fall Porch Decor was complete. It was super easy and quick too, my kind of decorating. Well, I thought I was finished…
Some days had passed and trying to catch the last remaining garage sales, I chose to drive to one in a nearby small town. Well, I’m so glad I did. Waiting for me was the exact item I wanted to use to decorate my porch area. I thought I was pleased with the chippy door, but to my joy, the cutest upcycled pallet pumpkin was sitting at this garage sale waiting to be purchased. It had to come home with me! It was meant to be part of my fall porch decor. I just loved it and it fitted in pefectly. As for the chippy doors? They went onto other homes to become part of their Fall Porch Decor. I’m so glad I traded out the decor. I smile every time I pull up to my house!
What have you scored at a garage sale that totally made your day? I love to hear those stories.

October 28, 2015 at 5:49 amGood Morning Mary, Love that old door! What a find. In response to your question about what garage sale find I recently ‘redid’, mine is not so much of a garage sale find as a roadside rescue. Check it out here…I’m pretty tickled with it. http://www.nourishandnestle.com/roadside-rescued-and-up-cycled-office-storage/
Have a great day, Lynn
