Painted Black Desk

August 4, 2014 By thriftytonifty

Painted Black Desk   Let me tell you a story about this little black desk. A few summers ago when I was out and about on a Friday Find, I came across this desk at a garage sale. I fell in love with it immediately but did not take it home.  Why?  I’m not sure.  Days passed and I was still thinking about it.  I was picturing it in a perfect spot in my home. I could have … [Read more...]

How to organize your jewelry on a budget

July 20, 2014 By thriftytonifty

Have you experienced disorganization when it come to you jewelry?  I sure did.   To be honest, I am not a big jewelry wearer, but, that may have been because of its accessibility. When I would be getting ready I would not take the time to look through my selections to make a choice to complete my outfit. Out of sight , Out of mind. Then after the fact I would kick myself for … [Read more...]

It’s Found a home… Finally!!

June 25, 2014 By thriftytonifty

Do you recall this find posted way the heck back? Well it lived in my garage all winter long.  I had great plans of painting it to some degree but never had the motivation.  It kind of felt like homework.  Something that needs to be done but just not motivated to get started.    So it sat on my side of the garage   Every time I would pull in or leave there it would be sitting, reminding me … [Read more...]

Hi-Ho Silver Away!!!

June 23, 2014 By thriftytonifty

As I was going through my stash of projects, I realized I never followed up with the remainder of  the rocking horse conclusion.  If you recall, I was undecided what to do with the base of the horse. At first I thought I would just leave it the stained wood color. However, now that it sat for a while and I was able to really process it, I decided to go ahead and paint it. I don't know why  I had … [Read more...]

Thrifty Decorating—-What it Looks Like

April 20, 2014 By thriftytonifty

Not long ago, a dear friend  that I have not seen in a while stopped by my house. Upon entering  she commented  how the change ups in the living room  looked great. Of course I accepted the comliment but in the same moment felt very awkward.  My furnishings and home decor are thrifty flea markets, garage sales ,and thrift stores finds.  How could someone really think these second hand things  look … [Read more...]

April 17, 2014 By thriftytonifty

Are you familiar with Miss Mustard Seed? She is a very creative   vintage inspired blogger whom I love to follow and get inspired.   By no means am I even close to her talent, however, she does inspire me.  Not too long ago, I was reading her blog and found out she has a thing for vintage/ or vintage looking rocking horses. http://missmustardseed.com/2014/01/rocking-horse-part-2/  This came … [Read more...]

Update on Buffet

January 27, 2014 By thriftytonifty

During the holidays, I wanted to incorporate the buffet into the festive decor.  I was very pleased to have a new home for my Willow Tree Creche.  Just to change things up a bit, I took down the fall picture and hung a mirror.  This mirror was a total score on one of my "Friday Finds" trips.  Can you believe it was only $5?  I so love a good find.  Don't you? Please share how you mixed things up … [Read more...]

Buffet Reveal

December 9, 2013 By thriftytonifty

Here it is folks!!  The finished piece -the buffet.  It gave me a problem at first, but after some guidance and some quick tricks, I'm happy with it.   I'm not sure if its home will remain in mine but for now it is useful. Here is a picture of what it first lo0k liked after it was painted and antiquing cream added to it.  It became very streaky.  Not the effect I was going for. I let it sit … [Read more...]

Palm Beach Buffet Transformation Progress

December 2, 2013 By thriftytonifty

Remember the yellow buffet that was discovered at a garage sale back in October? Well, I have been slowly working on it little by little.  The project started out in the garage. I was able to get a couple of coats of paint on it before the weather turned too cold for painting outside. The paint I chose is called Lucketts Green by Miss Mustard Seed.  You can read about this fabulous paint … [Read more...]
