Darling Bench Makeover

March 7, 2016 By thriftytonifty

I have been trying to stay true to my New Year's goal of treating my blog as a job.  All in all I have been doing well at starting and completing projects, writing posts, and updating my facebook page and other social media.  At first I felt a bit shy to share my projects with the outside world, but I have found great support and encouragement in this new endevor.  Thank you all for being such … [Read more...]

DIY Home Decor Projects

June 22, 2015 By thriftytonifty

It has been a while since my last post. It's not from lack of thrifty projects to complete.  It's from the very fact summer has begun.  That means a whole new routine, expectation, and craziness.  I'm sure many of you can relate.  I did however, find time to complete some DIY home decor projects, I just haven't have had the opportunity to write about them. Now that I'm settled, I would like to … [Read more...]

Side Table Updated

March 30, 2015 By thriftytonifty

Who doesn't need an extra side table added to their home decor?  When I came across this lonely little table, I knew I could give it a fresh new look that would be a great home accent next to a reading chair, or as a side table by a bed. The biggest challenge I had with this piece was deciding what color I should paint it.  With such deliberation, I consulted … [Read more...]

Pie Table Rescue

February 27, 2015 By thriftytonifty

Back in fall, I cleaned out the garage in preparation for winter and set aside some home furnishing projects to work on during the long winter months we experience here in Wisconsin.   The two projects I decided to work on were the pie table and the step stool.  I was able to complete these in an afternoon using the creative space at the Ironstone Nest.   I chose a … [Read more...]

Hutch Reaveal

February 11, 2015 By thriftytonifty

The painted hutch is complete!  After a few changes..... Here's the story!   Originally, I started with Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Lucketts Green and then added Martha Stewart Iron Stone to the shelves and base. Stepping away from it for a while, I decided I did not like were it was heading.  It's not surprising that I change my mind half way through a … [Read more...]

Hi-HO Silver

April 17, 2014 By thriftytonifty

Are you familiar with Miss Mustard Seed? She is a very creative   vintage inspired blogger whom I love to follow and get inspired.   By no means am I even close to her talent, however, she does inspire me.  Not too long ago, I was reading her blog and found out she has a thing for vintage/ or vintage looking rocking horses. http://missmustardseed.com/2014/01/rocking-horse-part-2/  This came … [Read more...]

Buffet Reveal

December 9, 2013 By thriftytonifty

Here it is folks!!  The finished piece -the buffet.  It gave me a problem at first, but after some guidance and some quick tricks, I'm happy with it.   I'm not sure if its home will remain in mine but for now it is useful. Here is a picture of what it first lo0k liked after it was painted and antiquing cream added to it.  It became very streaky.  Not the effect I was going for. I let it sit … [Read more...]

Palm Beach Buffet Transformation Progress

December 2, 2013 By thriftytonifty

Remember the yellow buffet that was discovered at a garage sale back in October? Well, I have been slowly working on it little by little.  The project started out in the garage. I was able to get a couple of coats of paint on it before the weather turned too cold for painting outside. The paint I chose is called Lucketts Green by Miss Mustard Seed.  You can read about this fabulous paint … [Read more...]
