Side Table Updated

March 30, 2015 By thriftytonifty

Who doesn't need an extra side table added to their home decor?  When I came across this lonely little table, I knew I could give it a fresh new look that would be a great home accent next to a reading chair, or as a side table by a bed. The biggest challenge I had with this piece was deciding what color I should paint it.  With such deliberation, I consulted … [Read more...]

Pie Table Rescue

February 27, 2015 By thriftytonifty

Back in fall, I cleaned out the garage in preparation for winter and set aside some home furnishing projects to work on during the long winter months we experience here in Wisconsin.   The two projects I decided to work on were the pie table and the step stool.  I was able to complete these in an afternoon using the creative space at the Ironstone Nest.   I chose a … [Read more...]

Hutch Reaveal

February 11, 2015 By thriftytonifty

The painted hutch is complete!  After a few changes..... Here's the story!   Originally, I started with Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Lucketts Green and then added Martha Stewart Iron Stone to the shelves and base. Stepping away from it for a while, I decided I did not like were it was heading.  It's not surprising that I change my mind half way through a … [Read more...]

January Check In- How Did it Go?

February 7, 2015 By thriftytonifty

Happy February to you all!  I know we are almost a full week in, but it has taken me this long to process that.  January flew by!  Did that happen to you, too?  I swear, I was just posting my New Year's goals for this blog. It seemed like yesterday! That being said, I thought I would check in and give a recap of how I am doing with those goals. Goal #1: Tweak projects already in the works … [Read more...]

DIY Silver Chalkboard Tray

January 26, 2015 By thriftytonifty

I wanted to share with you a quick DIY project you can do in a half hour or less.  This idea came to me when I had the opportunity to share in a birthday celebration for a dear friend and wanted to give a personal kind of gift.   I had a couple of these silver trays tucked away in my stash that I picked up one day thrifting at a very reasonable price.  I always had the intention of … [Read more...]

Picture Frames

January 14, 2015 By thriftytonifty

I"m not sure if any of you even noticed.., but I did not do a single post in the month of December.  It wasn't that I was not doing anything related to being thrifty.  ( Seriously, that's automatic for me.) It's just was that I was in a funk and the thought of sitting down and typing felt too much like homework.  Therefore, I am going to be playing catch-up on all December happenings. My dear … [Read more...]

Furniture update

January 6, 2015 By thriftytonifty

Well, I did it again!  It drives my husband nuts! "What?' you ask. Earlier in December I suffered from a "little" cabin fever. To get out of my funk, I decided for a furniture update again.  Do you remember the white cabinet I picked up at a garage sale and relocated it into the home office?  If not you can read about it here.  Well, I decided I was done with it.  Yup! Time for it to go. … [Read more...]

Front Door Refresh

November 16, 2014 By thriftytonifty

When we first moved into our home almost 14 years ago, Our front door was a deep forest green. This was way before I starting blogging so I do not have a picture of it.  One day my husband was in the painting mood and decided to paint the front door with some left over  cream colored paint.  I liked the fresh new look and was very appreciative of his effort in his attempts to spruce things up. … [Read more...]

Fall Clean-up/ Winter Projects

October 28, 2014 By thriftytonifty

The air here in Wisconsin has turned to crisp mornings and beautiful sunny days.  No matter how lovely the colors look, the downfall of this time of year is the early morning frost.  During the warmer months, we have gotten in the habit of not parking in our garage.  It's not form lack of desire, rather its lack of space.  You see, much of the outdoor activity involves stuff which comes out of … [Read more...]
